On this day, 19 November 1900, German communist and anti-Nazi activist Anna Seghers was born into a Jewish family in Mainz. She wrote a novel in 1932 warning of the dangers of fascism, Die Gefährten, which led her to be arrested by the Gestapo. When released she left the country, eventually fleeing to Mexico ~POeFZ
